Hallo wieder mal,
soeben habe ich ein update der Gordius-Software erhalten, damit ihr mal seht was da so alle 2 Monate daherkommt hier die Info von Xavier zu den neuen features...gruss an alle Interessierten!
New firmware features (most of them have already been discussed on the Gordius Yahoo forum)
================
- MIDI Channel based filtering of both MIDI outputs :
for each of the 2 MIDI OUTs (the main MIDI OUT and also the "TO FCB" output when used as a regular MIDI OUT) you can optionally specify which MIDI Channels are passed and which are blocked. This way it is possible to split the generated or forwarded MIDI messages into 2 separate streams, based on their MIDI channel range.
- All MIDI Channels can be given a meaningful name in ControlCenter. Also, you can specify which channels are actually used. As a result, the MIDI message editor will display a limited choice of meaningful channel names to choose from.
More important : all MIDI channels are turned into variables, with a customizable initial value. Each patch, stomp box, or effect can then change the actual value of each MIDI channel. So by clicking 1 switch, you can modify the MIDI channel used in many presets.
- 16 global variables are added, which can be used as first or second data byte in any MIDI message. Again, each patch, stomp box, or effect can change the value of any variable and this way modify the meaning of any preset (for instance by changing the CC number or value of a stomp box, etc...)
- apart from using these variable MIDI channels or data variables, the complete MIDI content of any patch can be modified by selecting any preset. In order to achieve this, each patch can not only define its "main" first and second MIDI streams, but also a number of "variations" which contain completely different MIDI streams. You just specify which preset causes which variation of the patch to become active. Extremely powerful, and probably not the easiest thing to set up...
- a default preset can be defined for each song. This preset is automatically selected when you brows to a song. This feature is added on top of the already existing "default switch" for each bank. If you wish to combine both features, it's possible: the default preset is selected first, the default switch is activated after that.
- the bank "rule" system, was extended. It is now possible to modify the content of a switch by clicking that same switch. This enables looping through different presets on 1 switch (similar to "sequential extra patches", but this time with complete presets instead of patches...)
Also the possibility was added to explicitly clear a switch in a rule (instead of just leaving it unchanged)
- it is now possible to link all set lists, which makes you scroll automatically from the last song of a set list to the first song of the next set list - this way you can easily scroll through all 250 songs if needed.
- a few new display modes were added :
an "XL" (big character) display of the current song or bank + current preset. Each item name is spread over 2 lines of 10 characters.
an "XXL" (VERY big character) display of the current preset (10 first characters of the name, spread over 2 lines of 5 characters)
- the MIDI IN and OUT LEDs can be disabled (for instance if there is constant activity on the line for ActiveSense, MIDI Clock, ...
- it is possible to specify the number of beats per measure. This is used when displaying the incoming MIDI Clock through the LEDs or when using a metronome : the first beat of each measure is emphasized.
Also, different MIDI messages can be sent on the first beat and on the other beats, resulting for instance in a "2-tone" metronome.
- the BPM value of a metronome or the tapped tempo of TapTempo preset can be displayed on the LCD screen for a few seconds. Also the BPM of an incoming MIDI Clock signal can be displayed.
As you can see - many new things, some of them can add a lot of complexity (and power) to your setup. Just go ahead and experiment with the different possibilities. And don't hesitate to email if things don't behave the way you expect, or if you discover hidden features ( read: bugs... )
